About the artist

I began drawing at a very young age. As a young person I drew objects and people to see how well I could replicate the reality of each subject. Early on I took traditional lessons with various levels of skill to explore many methods and mediums. I chose acrylics as my medium and mixed media to express the subject of my focus. As a young adult I attended the Akron Art Institute and Akron University. While with a private instructor I was encouraged to enter several local art shows and that launched me into wanting more of that experience in the world of artistic expression. I became a member of Tri-County Art Society which allowed me to enter more art shows and during that time sold over 200 pieces of art. Needing to have a more consistent source of income I entered the corporate world of marketing and advertising, while raising my family.

Putting the paints and brushes away for that period of time was good in the sense that I was growing as a person in many roles and it expanded my artistic spirit. I have exhibited my art at the Department of Natural Resources, Columbus, as well as Hardesty Park , Akron, and the Artapalooza, Green, Ohio.

As an artist I have evolved from looking at the outside world for inspiration to looking inside to express  in an emotional or spiritual sense. My style could be described as a loose interpretation of subject matter. I no longer need to recreate in a photographic replication to achieve self satisfaction, but am more inspired by the emotion invoked by color and shape. The true essence of abstract is very satisfying to my sense of artistic license. The evolution of any artist, regardless of medium can be viewed objectively in how they translated or expressed an idea or subject on canvas or material of choice.

The highest compliment to any artist, in my opinion, is when a person desires to own a piece of the very essence of who and how that artist has conveyed an aspect of life, nature or emotion to them. There is no greater satisfaction to me than when I immerse myself into the universe of expression without expectation, and it offers a bit of me in art that moves the viewer.
